Get Your Plaid On! The 53rd annual RBC Heritage Golf Tournament Presented by Boeing takes place from April 12th to the 18th. It is held at the Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines with limited spectators this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This course “places a premium on finesse, imagination, and shot-making, rather than strength,” according to Hiltonheadisland.org. The 18th hole offers a spectacular view of the Harbour Town Lighthouse.
The tournament is the only PGA Tour event in South Carolina and was first held in 1969 with Arnold Palmer as its first champion. The 2020 winner, Webb Simpson, has already committed to the 2021 tournament to compete in a field of 132 golfers. Among them will also be past champions Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Graeme McDowell, and Brandt Snedeker. Ten men have been repeating winners at this tournament, with Davis Love III holding the record at five wins.
The Heritage Classic Foundation is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1987 to aid people in need in South Carolina. To date, it has donated more than $45.8 million. This year’s #PlaidPledge efforts will support doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers. The stories of healthcare workers will be highlighted throughout the week of the tournament.
